Creative Ways to Celebrate Mothers on Mother’s Day

mkj • May 09, 2023

At Moloney Family Funeral Homes , we look forward to celebrating the mothers in our lives each May. Our experienced staff loves to observe this springtime holiday in unique ways. Whether you’re spending Mother’s Day traveling somewhere new or hanging out at home, here are some creative ways to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day:

Make Mom breakfast in bed.

Surprise Mom first thing in the morning with a homemade breakfast in bed. Go all out with a tray, flower bouquet, and fancy napkins. Cook up banana pancakes, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, or whatever dish you think she’d love. Your mom will likely appreciate the effort and the time you took to help her start her day. Feel free to get as elaborate as you like with the breakfast and serve it with a cappuccino or mimosa on the side. Bon appétit!

Get crafty with a wreath or a flower arrangement.

Creating something new with Mom is a fun way to celebrate Mother’s Day. Sign up for a course that teaches participants how to make a wreath or flower arrangement. You can also get creative at home and follow along with YouTube videos. All you’ll need is table space, supplies, and a fun soundtrack to accompany your creations.

Take a fitness class together.

An upbeat fitness class is a fun way to spend a Mother’s Day morning. Whether you opt for a slow yoga flow with lots of restorative stretching or an upbeat kickboxing session, a fitness class is a great way to connect while breaking a sweat. After class wraps up, treat Mom to a delicious smoothie or green juice—or maybe an ice cream (she deserves it)!

Head to a park for a picnic.

May is a wonderful time of year to head outside to a park for a picnic. Stash tasty snacks and beverages in your biggest basket and impress Mom with an al fresco lunch. Don’t forget a blanket and bug spray or sunscreen if need be.

Hit the hiking trail.

A Mother’s Day hike is a great excuse to unplug and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Wear your comfiest shoes and choose a hike that fits your mom’s level of fitness. Everything from a flat, leisurely stroll to a more challenging uphill climb can have lots of health benefits and be a special bonding opportunity for you and the mom in your life.

No matter how you choose to show your mom love this year, be sure to tell her how much you appreciate all she does. Happy Mother’s Day!
