Susan and I offer our heartfelt condolences to Walter’s family and friends for your sad loss. Walter was a kind, warm, friendly, intelligent, happy, giving, dear gentleman and loyal Navy veteran who will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He enriched our lives, and we all shed tears over his loss. As a friend and neighbor across the street for 20 years, we saw the U.S. flag and Navy flag flying proudly in front of his house every day and every night. We will keep him in our hearts this way—every day and every night. As an Air Force veteran, I salute you. Thank you for serving our country and defending our nation. And for being a dear friend to us all.

Bobby Biondo left a message on June 28, 2022:
I was working at RCA Communications in Manhattan where I first met Walter. We We were on the midnight to 8am shift. We were teletype operators. Walt just got out of the navy. He served on the USS BOSTON. Walt would ride into work on his Holly Sportster Motorcycle. I think it was in 1964 when he bought a 1962 white Corvette convertible, 4-speed,327 engine. We were all into speed in those days. I had a red 1963 Impala convertible,4-speed,409 engine. Our other friend Bobby Z had a black 1963 dodge polora convertible with a ram charger engine. Bobby Zweigbaum was a co worker and a great mechanic and would work on our cars. We all worked the midnight shift at RCA.Once in a while Walt would pick me up with his motorcycle and ride into work with me on the back of his bike lighting him a Pall Mall cigarette while he was riding. I was living in woodhaven queens at the time. We would also race our cars on the FDR on a meal hour around 3am in the morning. We also raced at Islip race track. Walt was there when I won a trophy. Walt is Godfather to my daughter Gina. He’s Godfather to so many friends. He always wanted to be The Godfather of his friends children. He was a great guy to be around. Always upbeat.I remembered one night he was going on vacation for a week. When he came back work he looked exhausted. He tells me I just came in from Florida . He had met some other biker and both of them rode to Florida. Than there was the time in July of 1966, I get a call around 2am in the morning from him. He’s in jersey being held for going thru like 50 red lights. I think it was the Holland Tunnel, they had one lane shut down and that’s the lane he took. I paid the fine and he was released. He never forgot that because that morning I was leaving for Vietnam. After that we were all married raising our families and didn’t see each other that Often. Than about 15 years ago we started getting together going to car shows, meeting for breakfast, going to pubs. I’m sure going to miss him. My condolences to his wife Mary Ann who took good care of him and his 3 daughters. Bobby Biondo, .
