Patricia A. Booker

On Monday, February 15th, 2021, Patricia Ann Booker, loving Mother, loving Aunt, and friend to all who met her, passed away at age 84 at home surrounded by her family.

Patricia, or Pat as she preferred to be known, was born in her favorite season of autumn, in New York City to Frances (nee Bowen) and William MacKinnon after her beloved brother William MacKinnon III and before her beloved brother Roger MacKinnon. She graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in the 50s and worked in Manhattan at various companies but mainly as a bookkeeper for Mayer Malbin in Long Island City and Waldbaum’s main office in Central Islip, among other local businesses over the years.

Pat was proud to be an aunt of many wonderful nieces and nephews and at long last gave birth to her own child, Deana, with her then husband Edward Booker in the mid-1970s before moving to Long Island.

Pat had a passion for people, she could always be found making new friends, who would love hearing her many funny stories.  She was a life-long avid newspaper (cover to cover) and book reader, who loved all kinds of books from Homer to Dostoevsky to Tom Clancy to many more and shared her passion with family and friends.  Pat also loved the NY Rangers and made others a fan by her passionate and vivid accounts of the famous GAG line to Mark Messier and more.  She enjoyed looking at her small but well-loved coin collection with a magnifying glass.  Pat was known for her quick wit, friendly nature, and warm spirit.

Pat is survived by her heartbroken daughter, Deana and her son-in-law Dennis; Deana’s father, Edward; and many generations of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her beloved dog Pumpkin.
