Nora P. Cox

We announce, with feelings of sincere regret, the passing of Mrs. Nora Patricia Cox (nee McKelvey), affectionately known as Noni. Noni resided in Ridge, LI, NY but lived most of her life in Bellmore, LI, NY (St Barnabas Parish). She was raised on the upper east side of Manhattan (St Jean the Baptiste Parish). Devoted daughter of James McKelvey (Donegal, Ireland) & Mary McKelvey (nee Pierse – Kerry, Ireland). Beloved wife of Dudley James Cox. Amazing mother of Patty (Lew), Eileen (Danny), Nora (Jerry), Colleen (Steve), John (Hazel), Mary Theresa (Michael), Dudley Jr., Kevin (Annemarie), Kerry Ellen and Daniel Liam. Loving grandmother of Sarah, Keith (Peggy), Kristy (Tyrone), Patrick (Lizzey), Annie Rose, Kevin (Flora), Bonnie (Check), Evan, Katy, Ashley, Janelle, Amanda (Glen), Dylan, James, Dion & Roshain. Proud great grandmother of Sean, Aria, Cayden, Kassidy, Kierin, Luna, Lucy, Anna, Quinn, Isabella & (another) Aria. Noni was inseparable from her best friend Lilian Dolan while growing up. She graduated from St Jean The Baptiste High School. During school, she worked at DePinna’s flagship department store on Fifth Avenue & 52^nd street. They wanted to make her a manager, but she chose to go downtown and work for the NY Telephone company where she met her other life-long best friend Helen Boyle. Noni & Dudley (Big Dud) met, married and moved to his St Theresa’s Parish in Brooklyn before eventually settling in Bellmore. Among many other endeavors, Noni worked for the Catholic Diocese of Rockville Center and took college courses at Molloy College. Noni was a sweet & loving human being who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was respected, admired and cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Funeral Mass at 10:45AM Tuesday, 27-July-2021 at St. John the Evangelist Roman catholic Church. 25 Ocean Ave. Center Moriches, NY 11934.  In the lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Mary Haven Performing Arts Program – Theatre Related Supplies. 200 Wilson Street.
