Continue ReadingNina Mascari of Nesconset, NY passed away 16-Aug-2022 after a brief illness. Born Nina DiBenedetto of Salle in Abruzzo Region of Italy in 1930. Nina and husband Mario had 3 children. An accomplished seamstress when she came to the USA with an artful passion for knitting, sewing, embroidery as well. Quick to learn English in her adopted country she was the first woman from her town to learn to drive. A farmers daughter she had the proverbial green thumb with a passion and deep knowledge of gardening and especially loved flowers. A very religious lady with a strong desire to always help those in need, she was an founding volunteer member of the hospitality committee at Holy Cross catholic church when they first started, was also involved using her unique artisan skills in knitting warm caps and blankets for veterans, baptismal bibs and religious banners for the church, etc. An avid member of Smithtown senior citizens club. Cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren (plus spouses) 14 great grandchildren and an example of a full life well spent.
