Samantha Williamson left a message on September 12, 2022:
Nanny and I spent years together under a roof woven together by familial love, strength, and resilience. She was a part of a whole that completed our family of five (and nine if including the dogs). Now, we find our little family having dwindled to three people and three dogs. Seeing Nan leave has left yet another crack in our hearts, for her smiles could light up the dullest days. Nan was a bright smiling lady with the sweetest laugh and the silliest facial expressions. Throughout the years, Nan and I spent many nights watching Golden Girls, Reba, Walker: Texas Ranger, and Everyone Loves Lucy. Sometimes, I’d read to her and she would smile and laugh where it counts. When I was a little girl, our imperfectly perfect family would go on excursions to haunted places and I would whine and cry when I was particularly scared; however, Nanny always managed to me make me laugh with her “I’m just going to close my eyes” comment and, suddenly, I felt a little braver with her at my side. I think she secretly loved it, though! When I was only a tot, I vaguely remember sitting in front of a TV watching Anaconda with her (yes, the snake movie). Though I probably shouldn’t have been watching it at such a young age, I can honestly tell you I was hooked on the movie long after that! Ha ha! Thank you, Nanny, for all the memories and for lending me a smile and laugh when I felt like the world was pressing on my shoulders and chest. I’m going to miss you a lot, but I’m thankful you are finally free from all the restrictions holding you back. Please kiss and hold my mom and Belle close for me in the meantime. I know they will do the same for you. Rest in peace, Nanny. I love you.
