Linda Joyce Purga Schlitz
October 26, 1948 – March 22, 2023
Linda grew up in Bohemia, Long Island to parents Louis and Elsie Purga, now deceased. She attended schools in Bohemia and graduated from Connetquot High School. She also attended Suffolk Community College in Selden, NY. She married her wonderful husband Andrew Schlitz on May 6, 1973 and have resided in Port Jefferson Station for nearly 50 years. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her sons Brian Schlitz of Cocoa Beach, FL., Andy Schlitz of North Bellmore and his wife Jaclyn, their children & her grandsons Andrew and Nicholas Schlitz. Her sister Dolores Purga Littlefield of West Palm Beach, Fl., her niece Michelle Mazliah and husband Joe of Coram, NY & their children Emma and Ella Mazliah, a niece Tara Goodwin Ruffus and son Jailan from GA, a nephew Jeff of GA, cousins Steve Wiehe of West Palm Beach, Fl., Gloria Ryshanek of Bohemia, NY, Barbara Purga of Ronkonkoma, NY, Johnny Purga & wife Melissa & their children Thomas, Madeline & Amanda of Ronkonkoma, NY. A longtime special friend Donna Dye Sherk & her son Eric of Boca Raton, FL.
Linda loved reading, her family & many friends, her compassionate and love of animals, especially her many cats, present & past and was very dedicated to her faithfulness in her Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall for more than 40 years. She will be greatly missed & loved & always in our hearts… family & friends can visit Sunday March 26th from 3-7pm at Moloney’s Bohemia Funeral Home, 1320 Lakeland Ave. Bohemia, NY. A service will be held on Monday March 27th at 11am, followed by Linda being laid to rest at Bohemia Union Cemetery, 906 Church St., Bohemia, NY.
