Kathleen M. Dowd

Kathleen Marie Dowd of Hauppauge, NY passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020. She was predeceased by her loving parents William J. Dowd and Joan T. Poggie and is survived by her brother William M. Dowd (Barbara) of Manakin Sabot, VA; her nephew Wes Dowd (Heather) of Moscow, ID and niece Monica McDearmon (Mac) of Richmond, VA; and three great nieces (Margaret, Meredith, and Caitlin). She is also survived by a closely knit group of extended family and friends.

Kathy is described by everyone she touched as a very sweet person, always thinking of others before herself. This was exemplified by her extreme dedication to the care and well being of her parents in their later years as well as her long term affection toward her stray kitty. She loved birthday celebrations and other family gatherings but her favorite day of celebration was Christmas – especially the opening of her presents! A lifelong Yankees fan, she loved Derek Jeter. She also managed to put up with the Mets, admitting she had a thing for Jacob DeGrom.

She was a lifelong member of Christ The King Roman Catholic Church in Commack, NY. In lieu of flowers her family asks that you consider making a donation to the church in remembrance of Kathy or to an animal shelter of your choice.
