Kathleen L. Meechan

Kathleen L. Meechan, 74, died in Port Jefferson, NY on June 4, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and fought a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Kathy was born in Queens NY on June 22, 1943, lived in various parts of Long Island as well as Crystal Lake, Illinois and Baiting Hollow until her death. She was a daughter of the late LeRoy and the late Loretta (Keegan) Marshall.  She is survived by daughters Rose (Frank) Morton, Loretta (Brian) Henry, Maggie Meechan and Mary Ellen Meechan, her brother Mark (Kathi) Marshall and sister Joan Marshall, grandchildren Andrew and Jason Nucatola, Jacob Meechan, Kyle, Erin and Keegan Dax Henry, and Ellis and Finley Morton, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.  She is predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Peter J. Meechan and a daughter, Kathleen L. Meechan (Kate).  Kathy was a meticulous homemaker and later worked at the Tanger outlets as well as being a tireless caregiver to her husband during a long illness, and helping her daughter raise two of her grandsons.  She was generous, creative and was an avid knitter who regularly donated her handmade blankets to homeless shelters.  Visitation on Wednesday, June 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Moloney Funeral Home in Port Jefferson Station, New York.  Mass to be held on Thursday, June 7 at 9AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Wading River, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram, New York.  In lieu of flowers donations to Good Shepherd Hospice https://goodshepherdhospice.chsli.org/ or Little Flower Children’s Services https://www.littelflowerny.org/ would be appreciated.
