Dear Debbie, we didn’t get to know Joe very well but we could always tell he was a good man. And from the looks of all the pictures, he lived a full life with you, his family and friends. He served his fellow man with dignity and distinction. I know you are very proud of him. We pray he is resting peacefully with our Lord.
Please know we are here for you, anything you need, we’re here! See you back in Florida soon.
Love, Marilyn and Roger

I would imagine most adults, at some point in their life, question just how much of what life has thrown at them can they handle yet continue on. If you need to see just how high the bar has been set, then look no further than Debbie and Joe, two of the strongest, selfless, caring, giving people God has put on this earth and whom Paula and I have had the honor, pleasure and great fortune to love.
We know that Joe has moved on to a better place, a place he will spend eternity painless and in the loving arms of his children.
We’ve always believed that, too, God has a special place in heaven for the caregivers, and that was a role Debbie took on as a warrior! Every minute of every day for years she gave her vowed love and more to making Joe as comfortable as possible.
I digressed, but I need you to know the esteem and love we have for Debbie and Joe.
Joe, may you rest in peace. Debbie, may God grant you the strength you need to get through this most difficult time, and may he quickly replace the pain of your loss with memories of the wonderful life you shared together.
Love,
John and Paula
Uncle Joe I am honored to call you my Godfather!
So many memories with you through the years that I will never forget. I admired all you have done you are an amazing strong man. I love you to the moon and back. I will love you forever forever and always as long as I’m living you will live through me. Our family is blessed to have you part of our life.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
We only had a few years together as your next door neighbor in Florida, too short of a time. We will miss you and know that you are in a better place. As a fellow Vietnam veteran, I salute you in your new journey.

To the Ficarola family:
We extend our condolences to your family as Joe was a great boss, mentor, and leader to all of us assigned to Highway.
He symbolizes the professionalism and true “grit” as to what it took to be in the best uniform detail in NYPD.
We are all family in NYPD and will never forget Joe!
Our deepest sympathy

Soldier, friend, partner. I did not go back to Highway when I made Lieutenant. When I retired, I walked out of my command, and there was Joe, with a full Motorcycle escort to bring me to the pension section on my last day. With all he went through in his life, he always thought of others. RIP Noble Warrior. Be re united with those you love.
There are no words. We keep him in our hearts everyday. We love you, Debbie...
Sgt "Fic" was a tough man but fair. We did late tours together in Hwy 3. A gentleman with a good sense of humor. Rest in eternal peace Sarge.
I worked with Joseph in Highway Patrol one of the best supervisors I worked for in my 30 year career. I was very sad when I heard the news of his passing away. May God bless him and bless his family. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rest in peace. Joe's standards were impeccable and he lead by example. Was a pleasure to have worked with Joe. Lost a good man, sail on Joe.
It was an honor to work with “Sgt. Fic” a true gentleman. Rest in peace my friend.
Debbie, I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.
