Dorothy Kuehn

February 25, 1932 – May 18, 2022

Dorothy departed from our world to join her heavenly father on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.  She passed peacefully with her family by her side of natural causes.

Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, NY to Walter and Sophie Marcinkowski.  She attended high school in Brooklyn, which is where she met her husband Frank.  They were married for 43 years when Frank passed away, on January 19, 1998.

Frank & Dorothy have 4 children, Barbara  Anne, Kenneth Michael (spouse Mary), Michael Joseph (spouse Patricia) and Michele Lynne (spouse Gary), six grandchildren, Kenneth Michael Kuehn, Jr. (spouse Marilee), Kristen Kuehn, Jennifer Demalderis, Sara Hansen (spouse Brendan) Ryan Doyle and Meaghan Doyle, and 3 beautiful great granddaughters, Jolene Bernadette, Lilliana Grace, and Violette Olivia. Dorothy’s grandchildren and great granddaughters were the light of her life.

Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Chodos Dental Supply Inc. in New Hyde Park, NY  for over 19 years.  She also worked at Chase Bank (also in New Hyde Park, NY) for more than 15 years.  After retiring from her bookkeeping career, Dorothy gave of herself and volunteered for Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, where she worked in the gift shop.  She also volunteered at Mather Hospital Thrift Shop, in Port Jefferson, NY for approximately 5 years.

Dorothy was beyond kind and loving. She gave of herself completely to her children, grandchildren and great granddaughters. She spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren, caring and playing with them and teaching them her values of kindness, honesty and love for family. Dorothy always put her family and friends first. Her faith in God and Our Savior Jesus Christ was strong and unwavering.

Dorothy loved to travel with her husband Frank and was blessed enough to do a lot of it before Frank passed. Her favorite place to go was Hilton Head, SC, where her brother and his family lived. She would go for a week every summer with her children and grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with her brothers and their families.

Dorothy was an extraordinary woman who was so kind and compassionate to everyone she met. She found the good in everyone, and always kept a positive outlook on life. Her beautiful smile and soul will be missed terribly by all who touched her life.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 26th at Infant Jesus R.C. Church in Port Jefferson, NY. A memorial celebration will be held immediately following at Danford’s in Port Jefferson, 12pm in the Harbor View Room. All are invited to attend both.

Some of Dorothy’s remains will be buried with her husband on Friday May 27th at Cypress Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.

Dorothy was a very generous woman who donated to many worthy causes, her favorite being St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family requests in lieu of flowers to donate to St. Jude in her memory.

Moloney’s Port Jefferson Station Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
