Zena "Sue" Serka Nunziata

ZENA SERKA NUNZIATA (1934 – 2023)

ST. JAMES – Zena Serka Nunziata (nee Zentrich), known to her loved ones as Sue, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023, at the age of 89 in St. James, NY.  She was born on November 9, 1934, in New York, New York, to the late Anthony and Helen Zentrich.

Sue was a dedicated librarian at Smithtown Library, where she spent many years nurturing a love of books and knowledge of her community.  She was passionate about her work and made a significant impact on those she served.

Outside of her career, Sue had a deep love for music, playing the cello in her youth.  She found solace and joy in the melodies she created.  Sue was also a Master Gardener, and happily shared her deep knowledge and love of plants with fellow gardeners.

Sue will be dearly missed by her surviving family members, including her spouse, Thomas Louis Nunziata, here daughter, Martha Helen Fluharty (Allan), her sons Thomas Louis (Marie) and Paul Anthony (Jenna), and her grandchildren Noah and Joshua Fluharty and Kai and Fei Nunziata.  She is also survived by her niece, Eve Zentrich, and nephew, David Zentrich.

Sue was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Zentrich, her mother, Helen Zentrich, her brother, Peter Zentrich, and her sister-in-law, Saundra Zentrich.  Their memories will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved them.
