Virginia Herzog

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Virginia, the family’s matriarch. Wife of the late Thomas F. Herzog. She is survived by her son Thomas Herzog, his wife JoAnn, daughters Karin Agovino & her husband George, Joanne Caramanica & her husband Frank and Barbara Rooney & her late husband Thomas. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Teresa, and Thomas DeScetto, Michael (Jessica) Caramanica, James (Jaimie) Caramanica, TJ (Jenna) Herzog, Kimberly Herzog DeForrest (Kenny), Thomas, Shawn and Christopher Rooney, Joseph, Jessica, Nicholas & Gianna. Also a great grandmother of sixteen and a great great grandmother of five. Adored by many nieces and nephews.
Virginia Herzog was 99, originally from Queens, New York and spent the majority of her life in Bethpage, New York, died on March 30, 2023 at St. Catherine’s Nursing Home located in Smithtown, New York. Virginia loved to join her Bethpage neighbors at the local bowling alley. Her passion was visiting Atlantic City to try her luck at the one armed bandits and trying to get that twenty one on blackjack. She lived a long and prosperous life. Her smile was made of sunshine and her heart was solid gold.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church located at 800 Portion Road, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY. Burial will follow in the Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation or the Cancer Society.
