Virginia Battiste, lovingly known as Ginger, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023. Born on December 3, 1946, Ginger spent her childhood years in her Melville home, Ginger was a beacon of light to all who knew her, embodying the qualities of love, thoughtfulness, and generosity.

 

Ginger was the beloved Wife of Daniel Battiste, cherished Mother to Brett and Brian Battiste, and adored Mother-in-law to Jesa and Donna Battiste. She was the dear Sister of Bonnie Walsh and the beloved Aunt of Meghan Ehrenberg, Scott Walsh, Jeff Zinkham and Ryan Zinkham. Sister in law to Kenneth Zinkham and Step Grandmother to William Mock. Ginger was predeceased by her Parents, William and Charlotte Lappe, her Brother, Billy Lappe her Sister in law Diane Zinkham, Brother in law Ray Walsh, and Mother in law Orly Battiste. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

 

Ginger held a Master’s Degree in Education and dedicated her professional life to the Brentwood School District as a devoted teacher. Her passion for education was evident in her commitment to her students, and she left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched. Ginger was an active member of the school community, always willing to go the extra mile to support her students and colleagues.

 

Ginger was a woman of many interests. She had a love for travelling the world, experiencing new cultures, and creating memories with her family and friends. She enjoyed yoga, finding peace and tranquility through her practice. Ginger also had a deep appreciation for Broadway plays, often attending shows with her loved ones. She enjoyed taking long walks, gardening, and adding to her shell collection and was especially relaxed while playing the piano. Ginger passionately loved her cats.

 

Ginger will be remembered for her warm smile, her unwavering kindness, and her selfless nature. Ginger’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, both in her personal life and professional career. As we remember Ginger, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by love, generosity, and service to others. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light to those who were fortunate enough to know her. While her physical presence will be dearly missed, her impact will continue to resonate, and her memory will always be cherished.
