Veronika Weitmann

Veronika (nee Takatsch) Weitmann, 88, of St James, NY passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020. Veronika was born on December 6, 1931 in Ruma, Yugoslavia; she was the daughter of Johann and Juliana (Horvat) Takatsch.

Veronika was a homemaker whose greatest love was that to her family. Later in life she worked for Estee Lauder in Melville, NY. She very much enjoyed hosting holidays and her recipes were beloved by the entire family. Everyone waited in anticipation for Christmas time, as the love for her Christmas cookies surpassed all other recipes! She will also be remembered for whistling and singing, especially in the kitchen while cooking. Veronika had a great appreciation for Elvis Presley and John Wayne, as many of her grandchildren who spent the night at her house would’ve been introduced to one or both of them.

Veronika is survived by her daughters, Elfriede DeMartino (Frank), Brigitte Taub (Glenn), Rosemarie Stallings and Trudy Shaffer (Kurt); grandchildren, Kim Oetting, Michael Taub (Irene), Christy Fieldsa (Donald), Jimmy Michaels, Allison Trevaskis (John), Lisa Cohen, Andrew Taub ( Elizabeth), Veronica Stallings, Alexandra Michaels, Philip Stallings, Erika Schaefer and Paul Schaefer and 14 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Veronika was predeceased by her sisters Maria and Ida and her brother Albert. Services will be planned for a later date.
