Thomas Henry Heinssen Sr.

HEINSSEN – Thomas Henry of Holbrook, NY on November 26, 2022 in his 80th year. Born 9/25/1942 in Jamaica Queens to the beloved late Charles and Virginia. In 1966 Thomas married his loving wife Susan Mary Cachia. He was a devoted father to Thomas Henry (Jennifer), Christian Joseph (Michele) and Jeffrey Peter (Dawn). Cherished grandfather to Christina Gleason (Jordan), Thomas (Bianca), Danielle, Deanna Keegan (Byran), Emily, James, and Mathew. Treasured great grandfather to Finnian Gleason, and Francis Gleason. Adored brother to Charles USN (Geraldine), the Late Gary USN (the Late Nancy), and Bruce USMC.

Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy from 1959-1965.

Thomas served on the Suffolk County Police Department for 35 years. He was made detective in 1976, Arson detective in 1980 and also served as 2nd Vice President of the Suffolk County Police Department Detectives Association.

Thomas was also a 41-year member of the Holbrook Fire Department. During his time with the fire department, he held many roles, including Lieutenant and Captain. He became a Life member in 2001. Company Man of the Year in 1985, 1999, and 2015. Department Man of the Year in 1983 and 2008.
