Thomas E. Buys

Thomas Earl Buys, aged 72, of Mastic, NY passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 10th, 1952, Thomas came from humble beginnings to become a self-made man, achieving success through his own perseverance and ingenuity.

After completing his education, Thomas discovered his true calling in the world of automobiles. With a deep-seated passion for cars and an innate mechanical aptitude, he embarked on a fulfilling career as an auto mechanic. His work was not merely a profession but a lifelong passion, and he poured his heart and soul into every car he serviced, earning him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of work, Thomas embraced life with a zest for adventure and a love for various activities. He was an avid bowler, a skilled softball player, and an enthusiastic concert-goer. Thomas also enjoyed the thrill of gambling and the excitement of traveling to new destinations, cherishing every moment of his active and vibrant lifestyle. When he wasn't being active, he loved to spend time on the water, whether it was cruising on his boat or lounging at the beach with his friends and family.

Above all else, Thomas cherished spending time with his family and friends. He shared 34 cherished years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ellen, demonstrating unwavering devotion and love throughout their journey together. He was a loving father to Diane (husband Graig), Thomas (wife Suzi), and Megan. He was also a caring "Poppy" to Rebecca and Justin. He additionally leaves behind his furry companion Trixie but is now reunited with his dogs from his younger days. He was best known for his playful banter, yet underneath his jovial exterior, he always made sure those around him felt cherished and loved. He was a dependable individual, readily available to offer assistance and support to those who sought his guidance, showcasing unwavering reliability in times of need.

Thomas will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

A funeral service to celebrate Thomas' life will be held on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 at Moloney's Funeral Home in Lake Ronkonkoma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the charity "Friends of Karen" https://www.friendsofkaren.org/ "Sunrise Day Camp - Long Island" https://www.sunrisedaycamp-longisland.org in memory of Thomas Buys. Both organizations have provided support to Thomas' family during challenging times.
