Theresa was born November 3, 1935, to Jean-Gerard and Ida Mangatal of Trinidad and Tobago.

As a child, Theresa attended St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic School in Woodbrook, Trinidad. She later worked at St. Ann’s Hospital and St. James Police Barracks where she met her future husband, Ainsely.

Theresa later spent some time in England before arriving in New York City in the mid 1960’s. While working at the Sierra Leone Mission to the United Nations, she attended The Career Academy where she graduated with a Medical Assistant certification. In 1968 she was employed by Beth Israel Medical Center and continued with various promotions through retirement in 1997.

Theresa and Ainsley were married June 13, 1968, in Brooklyn, NY where they lived with their children until they moved to Central Islip in 1976. Upon retirement she and Ainsley opened Sea Breeze Travel in Central Islip.

Theresa is a parishioner of the St. John of God congregation. She was also a former member of the Holy Name Society choir, and MCAA (Ministry of Catholics of African Ancestry). She was also a member of the Rotary Club of Trinidad and Tobago.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Jean-Gerard and Ida; husband, Ainsley; brothers and sisters, Rose-Mary, Michael, Oswald, Simeon, Francis and Rita; stepdaughter, Jacqueline.

Left to mourn are stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her many friends here in the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, and England.
