Celebrating the Life of Theodore “Teddy” Corbett

Theodore “Teddy” Corbett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, was born in the vibrant heart of Harlem, New York, on October 29, 1952, to Lovelyn Corbett and Idella Mack. Teddy passed away on October 1, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and unwavering support.

Teddy is survived by the love of his life, his wife of almost 55 years Norma, Together, they built a beautiful family that includes his cherished children: Khalik, Malik, Kwame, Mykia, and Shamel. He leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Janae, Jazzmin, Tamayah, Imani, Fatima, Khalia, Khalik Jr., Jilana, Judah Mateo Corbett and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought a twinkle to his eye and joy to his heart. Teddy leaves behind his siblings, Johnny, Luther Edward, Larry, and Idella, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many more.

For over 20 years, Teddy dedicated his career to social services, focusing on child welfare. His compassion and commitment made a profound impact on countless lives. Beyond his professional endeavors, Teddy was a master of family fun. He cherished fishing trips, camping adventures, barbecues and the lively gatherings that brought everyone together.

Teddy was more than a provider. He was a mentor to many, imparting wisdom and kindness wherever he went. His greatest achievement was not in his career, but in the strong family he nurtured and the lives he touched.

As we celebrate Teddy’s remarkable life, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the beautiful memories he created. He taught us the importance of family, joy, and togetherness, and his spirit will forever live on in our hearts. May we honor his legacy by gathering together, sharing stories, and creating our own cherished memories, just as he would have wanted.

Rest in peace, dear Teddy. You will be deeply missed, but your love will guide us always.
