Rocco (Rocky) Thomas LaMuro, 100 years old, long-time resident of Port Jefferson Station, NY from 1960 through 2017 quietly passed away on January 24, 2021.
He was born to Italian immigrants Victor and Victoria LaMuro on March 24, 1920 in Corona New York. He worked in the defense industry retiring from Grumman Aerospace Corporation in 1982 .

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Joe, Jerry, Mike, and sisters Bessie and Janice.
Rocky was often asked what the secret was for living such a long happy life, his reply was having successful children. Both Rocky and Gwen each served 20 plus years in the Air Force and then committed additional years as Government Civilians in the Air Force as well. * Rocky and Ellie enjoyed travelling, visiting Rocky, Gwen and their families at various military bases in the United States and Europe. He cherished visits with his grand-children, playing cards and games or just conversing about life. His daughter-in-law, Karen, spoiled him endlessly with homemade cookies, handmade quilts and German chocolates. Ellie and Rocky were also active with Senior Citizens and had wonderful times at luncheons, dances and playing poker.
Rocky was known for his love of sports and in particular his beloved Mets. He was often surrounded by family and friends watching the Mets struggle to win while wearing his favorite Mets hat. He avidly followed his son’s sports career in high school and college and enjoyed attending many of his football and lacrosse games. His home was always open to friends and family notably on Christmas eve where he and Ellie would share the feast of the seven fishes and gallons of wine every year.
Rocky would spend his later years living with Gwen and Joel in Pepperell, Massachusetts where he spent leisurely days with Joel and Gwen discussing sports, politics, gardening, or cooking. He took a liking to Facebook making new friends and playing marathon games of “words-with-friends”. He enjoyed visits from his long-time friends Jennie and Linda Kissane, Nicole Schwelnus, Donna Nalevakio, Fred and Laurie Johansen, Mary Rush and made new friends, Patti and Brian, Jay and Cheri, Tonya, Colleen, Sue and Cindy. Summers were spent eating lobster, drinking beer and basking in the sun while watching boats go by on Weirs Channel at Lake Winnepesaukee, New Hampshire. At almost 101, the Lord decided it was time for Rocky to come Home. Gwen and son-in-law, Joel cared, comforted and loved him until the moment when Jesus took his hand. .
