Robert Rogers

d. April 11, 2025

Robert W. Rogers, affectionately known as Pops and Pop Pop, was born on February 3, 1951, in Queens, New York, and passed away peacefully at his home in Holbrook, surrounded by his family, on April 11, 2025.

A true fighter in every sense, Robert battled pancreatic cancer with unwavering courage and once overcame a 35-minute heart attack, a testament to the strength and willpower that defined his life.

Pops worked as a conductor for the Long Island Rail Road for 30 years, where he was known for his dedication, work ethic, and friendly spirit. He was married to the love of his life, Germaine, for 52 beautiful years—a partnership built on deep love, laughter, and unshakable support.

He was a devoted father to 4 loving children and a proud grandfather to 9 beautiful grandchildren. One of his greatest joys in life was caring for his grandkids while their parents went to work—a role he embraced with pride and tenderness, lovingly known by all as "Pop Pop's Day Care."

A lifelong New York Mets and Giants fan, Pops could always be found cheering on his teams—win or lose. But nothing brought him more joy than watching his children and grandchildren play sports, showing up with pride and excitement to every game, big or small. His presence on the sidelines was more than support—it was love in action.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Germaine, who stood by his side through every chapter of life. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his children: Billy and his wife Renee, Robby and his wife Nicole, Melanie and her husband Chris, and Michele and her husband Brian.

He was the proud and devoted Pop Pop to his nine cherished grandchildren: Taylor, Caylee, AJ, Madison, Bobby, Lexi, Jake, Kira, and Jada. Each of them brought immense joy to his life, and he never missed an opportunity to be present, cheer them on, or simply share a laugh.

A memorial visitation and celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Monday, April 21, at Moloney Funeral Home in Holbrook, with two sessions: 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM. A memorial service will take place at 7:30 PM, where family and friends will come together to honor the life, love, and legacy of a truly remarkable man.
