Robert John Bernard

d. July 23, 2023

Robert J. Bernard, affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on December 7, 1956, Bob’s spirit, humor, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Jeannine, and their four cherished children, Denis, Stephen, Kristin, and Bryan. He was a loving father-in-law to Jenna, Maria, Kelsey, and Brian. He had 8 grandchildren, Dylan, Joey, Benjamin, Robinson, Madeline, Ethan, Evelyn, and Jordan. He was a devoted son to his mother, Francine, and his father, William Bernard; a loving brother to Billy, Jackie, Tommy, Kathy, and Mary, and their spouses; and a wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Bob was a family man who radiated love and warmth, and his greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones. His infectious laughter and endless stories will be deeply missed, but they will forever remain in the hearts of his family.

Bob was a man of many passions. He had a particular love for the outdoors and could often be found hiking, camping, or shed hunting. His gardening skills were unparalleled, with an award-winning yard featuring a whale bush and backyard koi ponds. Bob’s respect for nature extended to his unique interest in frogging, an activity he shared with his children and grandchildren.

Bob (aka “bjb”) discovered his passion for kayak fishing later in life, fully immersing himself in the hobby and joining a local fishing club, the KFA of NY. Within this club, the bonds he formed with his friends during these journeys were unbreakable, built on a foundation of trust, respect, and shared passion.

His love for adventure was matched only by his love for storytelling. His stories were infused with humor and wit (and sometimes hints of terror). His playful spirit shone brightest when he was playing pranks, a hobby that he never outgrew. Bob’s pranks were legendary in the family, and they will continue to bring smiles and laughter in his memory.

Bob’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and adventure. His spirit was indomitable, his humor infectious, and his love for his family boundless. He lived his life fully, embracing each day as a new adventure. His legacy will live on in the stories he told, the pranks he played, and the love he shared.

In his passing, Bob leaves behind a void that can never be filled. His laughter will echo in the hearts of his loved ones, his stories will continue to inspire, and his memory will be treasured forever. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Bob Bernard, a loving husband, father, son, and friend, a man of laughter, love, and life.
