Richard “Rich” Kenneth Williams, 70, of Port Jefferson Station, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Rich was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 4, 1949 to the late Bernard Williams and Irene Williams-Billelo (née Gray). He was a loving brother to Ann Crocco and Patricia Coccia. After growing up in Rockland, Massachusetts, Rich served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Thereafter, Rich met and married his wife, Janice, of whom he was a devoted husband for 45 years. Together, they raised seven children, Stephen Williams (Maureen Williams), Michele Franks (Daniel Franks), Christie Williams-Kahn, (Mario Kahn), Catherine Redlein (Dustin Redlein), Jennifer Williams (Shawn Voelker), Colleen Williams (Bill Gustafson) and James Williams. Rich especially loved being “Papa'” and “Grandpa” to Lily, Leah, Aeva, Benjamin and Ellie.
Rich was highly respected and dedicated to his career in HVAC, serving for many years at both Honeywell, and most recently with the Middle Country Central School District. Beyond his career, Rich also enjoyed coaching his children’s Little League and softball teams through St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Moloney’s Port Jefferson Station Funeral Home. In advance, The Williams Family appreciates your adherence to all COVID-19 precautionary safety measures. A private funeral mass and burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rich’s honor to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
The Williams Family would also like to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Mary Keohan and the entire team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
