Richard Goodwin was born in Brooklyn NY on April 12, 1942 to Robert and Dorothy Goodwin (nee King). He is survived by his loving siblings-a sister , Patricia Kerbein,( James) and brother, Robert Goodwin,(Irene), and nephews Patrick Flaherty, Mark Goodwin, Matthew Goodwin, Brian Goodwin ,and Robert Goodwin. Richie was a staple of his neighborhood in Brooklyn, with many friends and family surrounding him. He was a member of the NYC Department of Corrections Emerald Society Bagpipe Band. He moved out to Suffolk County NY to be closer to his daughters, Teri Ahearn ( Gerard A. Ahearn ) and Lori McCarthy ( Declan McCarthy ). Richie was a popular and successful modified stock car racer, which showcased his talent for driving and his passion for working on cars. He owned several Automotive Repair businesses in his life, and he taught auto mechanics at Ridge Hill Rehabilitation Center. His passion for his cars was paled by his love for his family- especially his grandchildren- Gerard Ahearn, William Ahearn, Kristen Ahearn, Cara McCarthy , Matthew McCarthy and Daniel McCarthy. Richie was predeceased by his wife , Diane Goodwin, his son Richard Goodwin Jr. , and his grandson Brendan McCarthy.
