Richard C. Smith
7/3/54-6/29/23
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard C. Smith from Smithtown, NY announce his passing.
Richard lived a beautiful life with his wife of 48 years, Teresa and two daughters, Courtney Michele (Ralph) and Kimberly Larkin (Robert) and 5 beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Ava, Thomas, William and Carley.
Following high school, Richard joined the Marines, as God, Country and Family were most important. Richard then attended college and joined the NYPD for 20 years. Upon retirement from the NYPD, he joined the NYS Attorney General in investigations for another 20 years. He just retired last year after 40+ years of service. Richard was a member of the NYPD Anchor Club, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corp League, FOP and a firearms instructor for the Attorney General. Richard was very active with the Anchor Club and recently became a 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus only 2 months ago.
Most important, Richard was the best husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend to all who knew him. Years ago Richard and Teresa purchased a family home on Lake Champlain for which we enjoyed every summer. They recently purchased an RV and enjoyed their first 3 week camping trip to Montana and the Dakotas where Richard was celebrated at Mt. Rushmore on Memorial Day. They had many more trips planned for the next many years.
Richard is predeceased by his father, Kendrick Clark Smith and mother, Geraldine Smith (nee Schiess) and brother, Michael K. Smith.
