On December 25th, 2020, Raymond Coughlin, loving husband and father of two, peacefully passed away after the most beautiful Christmas Day with his family at the age of 72. Ray was born on January 3rd, 1948 in Manhattan during a snow storm to Thomas Coughlin and Mary Tarish. Having grown up in Brooklyn, graduating Bushwick High School, serving in the Navy stationed in Brooklyn, and living all around the five boroughs and Long Island, Ray was a true blue New Yorker with the bellowing heavily accented yell to prove it. He physically could not whisper. On September 11, 1992, he married Lisette Rodriguez. Together they raised a daughter, Kendall Coughlin, and a son, Connor Coughlin.
His proudest achievement and defining characteristic was being a father to his two children. Having had them after a full life at 45, Raymond fully embraced and was the most excited to finally have a family of his own. Kendall and Connor viewed their father as a super hero in both childhood and adulthood, and will forever continue to see him that way.
Raymond had a deep love for attending his sons sporting events, his daughters theatre performances, being the funniest and most fun person in the room, being the honorary mayor of wherever he found himself, helping people with whatever they needed, and being a pain. He kept people immersed in laughter, always finding humor in the most mundane of life’s circumstances. His cheery and bubbly demeanor as well as amazing storytelling abilities will be missed but never forgotten. He continues to live in us through them. Ray was truly a once in a lifetime person.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and his mother, Mary. He Is survived by his wife Lisette, his two children Kendall and Connor, His brother Thomas, his sister Joannie.
Friends and family are invited to share their memories of Raymond with his family during visitation at Moloney’s Funeral Home Bohemia.
