Ray Anthony Simpson Sr., born on October 11, 1954, was the youngest son of the late Lillian Perriera and Norman Simpson. Ray, also known as “Rayco” was raised and attended school in Brooklyn, New York. In 1973 Ray graduated from Erasmus Hall Evening High School. He furthered his education and attended Medgar Evers College. In 1984, Ray advanced his training in telecommunications and accomplished various certifications including electronic and surveillance security. Ray’s father, Norman, always wanted him to become a doctor. Ray became the “Doctor of Telecommunications”.
In 1981, Ray married the love of his life, Juanita Marie, and of that union, Carla Elaina Ray Anthony Jr., Alanna Marie, and Jonathan Ray were born. They lived in Long Island, New York where Ray worked as a Senior Technician and remained in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years, while simultaneously starting and owning his own business. Ray had a love for technology, and had strong technological aptitude.
Ray was a creative genius; he had a wealth of knowledge and was always giving to those in need. Ray’s passion was in music; he enjoyed being a DJ and making mixed tapes. Ray also enjoyed landscaping in his backyard, and any new and upcoming technology gadget that he could get his hands on.
Ray has touched many lives with his warm and giving heart, quick wit and sense of humor. Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Marie; his children-namely, Carla Elaina, Ray Anthony Jr. (Kristen), Alanna Marie (Langston), and Jonathan Ray; his granddaughters Ava and Kingsley; his only sister, Daphne Berry (Louie); his nephews and nieces; and cousins including Hugh Freeney (Joy).
