Ralph Harold Wilmarth, 91, of Coram, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 2, 2022.
Ralph is survived by his daughter Eileen and her daughter Olivia; sons Kevin and his wife Diane, their boys Ryan, Jake, Matthew and Richard and his wife Sarah and their girls Anna, Katelyn. Ralph is also survived by his sister Pat Smith (George), and a number extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gertrude, sister Helen Kanaley (Edward) and brother Frank (Nancy). He is also preceded by his wife Virginia (Ginny) whom he married in April 1959 and passed away in January 1989. Ralph was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Ralph spent most of his life in the insurance industry as a fire prevention advisor, underwriter before moving to Mobil Corporation’s Insurance Department as an insurance specialist, where he retired in 1990.
Prior to that, Ralph joined the US Air Force in 1951 and attended its Intelligence Specialist school in Denver. He was deployed to Korea as part of a Fighter Bomber Group Intelligence section. Upon his return, he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command Intelligence Division in Omaha, where he served until leaving the service. During this time, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
Ralph enjoyed basketball in his younger days. He was a player, coach, and referee. In retirement he enjoyed many activities including golf, bowling, bocce, painting, and his weekly card games.
Services will be from 2:00 until 6:00 PM at Moloney’s Funeral Home, in Port Jefferson, NY on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Ralph will be cremated on Monday June 13, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
