McGarr, Francis Patrick of Holbrook, NY died peacefully on February 8, 2017 at the age of 72.
Patrick is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Anne McGarr. Patrick is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife Dorothy of 34 years of Holbrook; his siblings Ellen of Kennebunk, ME, William of Garden City, Nancy of Northport and Beth (James) of Charlotte, NC; his children Diane (James) of Northport, Timothy (Juliette) of Shoreham, Jeanette (Susan) of Honeoye Falls, NY, Tara (Patrick) of West Sayville, and Jill (William) of Saratoga, NY; his grandchildren Krystiana, Shannon, Daniel, Molly, Liam and Erin; and nieces and nephews James, Suzanne, Barbara, Tommy, Katie, Lucas, Jane, Ryan, Sarah, John, Sean, William, Hugh, Meghan, Thomas and many, many special friends and colleagues.
Patrick was most fittingly born on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17, 1944) as he entered this world with a quick Irish wit and sense of humor. Patrick was born in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Massapequa High School in 1962 and went on to study at Yankton College in South Dakota. He worked at the Scotts Lawn Company as a District Sales Manager for over 40 years.
Patrick was a kind and gentle soul with a generous spirit. He was beloved by all and made instant friends with his engaging personality, smile and contagious laugh. He was a natural storyteller, captivating family and friends with his wit and humor. Patrick loved his family so much; among his favorite things to do was to spend time with family as master of the BBQ grill and swimming in the pool with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the New York Yankees, gardening and always had the best looking lawn on the block.
Patrick’s family would like to extend special thanks to the hospital staff, nurses and doctors on the fourth floor at Brookhaven Hospital, especially Doctors Grzhibek, Joseph, Kim, Kormylo, and Mattoo. Their kindness toward and fondness of Patrick was a source of comfort for his family.
All are welcome to celebrate Patrick’s beautiful life.
