Patricia F. Williams (nee Walsh), 82 years old, of Manorville N.Y. (Silver Ponds Townhomes). formally of Oakdale, N.Y., passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022 after a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. Loving wife of John for 62 years and devoted mother to her children, Patty (Larry), Karen, and Jay. Adored and best loved Nammy to her grandaughters, Kelsey, Lauren, Tara, Ansley, and Kayla. Pat was a dedicated Special Education teacher for 25 years at the Merrimac Elementary School in the Sachem School District.
To have known Pat made you a better person. She instilled in all whom she encountered a sense of calmness, honesty, confidence, and understanding. Totally committed to her family, her faith, her students, she left no stone unturned to achieve the best she could, whether it be studying for a test or balancing her checkbook. She demanded the best of herself and the best from those entrusted to her care. Engaging with Pat you knew where you stood and in what direction you were heading. And it had better be a positive direction! Pat was at her best when she was able to make a change in the life of someone else, be that person one of her students or a girlfriend whom she encouraged to pursue her education at a later stage in life, just as she did. Raised in the Catholic faith with her parents as her guiding light, Pat never swayed from her faith in God and the trust she had in Him, always trusting and believing that there was always a light at the end of the tunnel for whatever was the difficulty at hand. Pat was at her proudest watching our children and grandchildren mature, excel in their studies, and perform in school activities and athletics. To her there was nothing better than those moments. She was my guiding light, my biggest supporter, and my most encouraging critic during my professional career. She definitely was ‘the wind beneath my wings.” I want to pay my personal tribute to her for the remarkable courage, fortitude, and strength she displayed in facing the pain, distress, and sheer frustration of her terrible affliction. I would like to express our family’s deepest gratitude for the loving and tender care with which Pat was treated by the doctors, nurses, caregivers, aides, and support staff. She could not have been in better hands. We thank them all.
Pat was a special person. She must have been to put up with me for so long. I love her dearly. We have been blessed with a very long and happy marriage, which doesn’t make things easier at the moment, but I hope someday soon it will. All my love – John XO
