Myong Su Lee

October 20, 1948 – December 1, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Myong Su Lee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 1, 2024, at the age of 76.

Myong was born on October 20, 1948, in Seoul, South Korea. He immigrated to the United States in 1979, seeking the promise of the American Dream. Through hard work, determination, and a deep love for his family, he made that dream a reality, becoming a successful business owner. For over 20 years, Myong ran Lee's Market, a neighborhood deli in New York City that became a beloved fixture of the community. His deli was even one of the inspirations for the iconic TV show Seinfeld.

Myong’s generosity, kindness, and strong work ethic were evident in everything he did. Whether he was offering a meal to a friend, helping a neighbor, or supporting his family, he was always ready to lend a hand. He was known to give you the shirt off his back without hesitation.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kum Sun Lee, their children, Sang Hwa Lee (and his wife Carol) of Canton, MI, and Gina Dent (and her husband Dewayne) of Ronkonkoma, NY. Myong was also a proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Emma Lee, Anna Lee, and Alexia Dent.

Myong spent most of his life in Queens, New York, before relocating to Ronkonkoma in 2019. He had a passion for life and loved spending his time dining out, entertaining friends and family, enjoying the beach, and tending to his garden.

He will be remembered for his boundless generosity, unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and his warm, welcoming spirit. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
