Michael Polizzi

Michael Polizzi of Selden, NY passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on October 31st. He was 80 years old. He is survived by his devoted wife Irene, daughters Debra and Lisa, son-in-law Robert, grandchildren Ryan and Rachel, several brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Michael was born in Sicily, Italy and came to the U.S. at the age of 15. At the time he did not understand English and learned the language by reading comic books.

Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. After the army he went to work for a vending company before becoming a pizza man. After several years he opened his own business in Bayport, NY called Satelite Pizza. He eventually sold the business and went to work for Roma Food as a salesman before retiring.

Michael adored spending time with his family and he and his wife loved to travel. Their favorite way to travel was by cruise and they took many over the years.

Michael was an avid poker player, whether on-line or getting together with friends. He would play until the early morning hours. He loved working in his gardens, especially his fig tree and lemon tree which did very well each year.

Michael was devoted to his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
