MICHAEL E. HACKETT

69 years old of Holbrook, NY passed peacefully on 1/14/2023 surrounded by his loved ones.
Beloved husband of Maureen for 47 years.
Devoted father of Joshua (Liz), Michael, David (Alicia), Joseph (Stefanie) and Shane (Maggie).
Loving grandfather of Ethan, Amber, Ayden, Logan, Serina, Zelda, and Persephany.
Survived by mother Lillian Hackett.
Predeceased by father Thomas J. Hackett and mother Irene Hackett.
Cherished brother of Thomas, John (deceased), Christopher, Jane, Patrick, Lillian, and Greg.
Wonderful brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to so many!
Respected member of the Nassau County Police Department for 33 years—retired sergeant.
Big hearted and fun loving, Mike was a rock for his large immediate and extended family. How he adored his grandchildren! Proud of his Irish heritage, he was loyal, patriotic, humble, stubborn, funny, and kind. Mike loved to laugh and was quick with a joke. He was a fierce warrior with unimaginable strength and determination. Known to many as “Red Bear” and “the Gorilla”, he would never hesitate to help someone in need. Not only strong, but equally gentle, he would well up with tears if someone he loved was hurting. His love for his family was immeasurable! He loved his life! And how he loved the New York Giants!
Rest peacefully dear Mike. We all love you!

In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson, NY or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Thank you.
