Michael (Mike) Schindlar, 59, passed away in Stony Brook, NY on September 9, 2021 after battling a long illness. His friends and family called him Miracle Mike for how hard he fought to stay with them. Mike was a 20 year veteran (retired) of the NYPD. As an NYPD officer he worked tirelessly at ground zero for many, many weeks in recovery efforts, a true hero. He became a police officer following the footsteps of his father and uncles and led his brothers into the family business. He lived the values of protecting and serving. Born and raised in Sayville, NY he was a resident of Stony Brook, NY.
He will be missed by all who knew him, he loved making people feel welcome, was quick with a smile, laugh and sometimes that sarcastic piece of advice that would hit home!
He was the most loving husband to his wife Christine, amazing son, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his Loving Wife Christine, Cherished Children Michael Schindlar Jr., Benjamin Mitaritonna and Nicole Brown (Richard), Adoring mother Doris Allen, Caring siblings Erich Schindlar (Michelle), Dennis Schindlar (Katherine) and Annemarie Powers (John).
