Maria L. Ambrose

Maria Louisa Ambrose is the daughter of Sebastian and Maria Perez Soto. In 1954, Maria (also known as Meline) moved to New York City from Moca, Puerto Rico. Shortly after she met the love of her life, Francis Ambrose, and married in 1958, going on to having nine children.

When Maria had her first child it was clear that she would dedicate her life to being a loving and caring mother to not only her children but many others. Our mother is the foundation of our family. She always knew how to make you feel better and never missed a special date. She is survived by her 7 children along with their spouses, 18 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren

Watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up meant the world to Maria. Maria poured all of her love and kindness into each child she raised.

Maria cared for any person that walked into her house as if you were part of the family. She would embrace you with a hug and a beautiful smile and then ask if you wanted anything to eat. Cooking was Marias’ love language. She is famous for her red rice and beans and beef stew, just to name a few. Ask any grandchild and they will tell you Grandma’s pancakes are the BEST! Whatever she cooked was made with love and a pinch of sass.

Maria loved being in her backyard, sitting on her swing with a cup of coffee and a good book admiring her garden of colorful flowers. Maria’s favorite time was sitting around the table playing dominos and giving all of her children “chibas”, or zeros as she wins the game. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Maria would describe her as selfless, caring and filled with everlasting love! Rest in Peace and say hello to Daddy and Heline!
