Lauren Patricia Weiler
September 7, 1984 - June 21, 2024
Lauren was a beloved daughter, sister, friend and co-worker.
She graduated from Hauppauge High School in 2002, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy with a minor in Economics from Seton Hall University in 2006.
She furthered her education by obtaining a Master's degree in Library Science from Long Island University, CW Post, in 2014. Her dedication to learning, and her love for books, led her to a fulfilling career as a librarian. At the time of her passing, Lauren was the teen librarian at Elwood Public Library, where she was cherished by both her colleagues and the community she served. Lauren was an accomplished and intelligent professional, whose impact on the lives of those she met was profound.
Lauren's passions were diverse and vibrant. She had a deep love for reading, especially within the fantasy genre, and was an avid crafter and baker. She enjoyed playing Pokémon Go and was a dedicated fan of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Her love for animals, the beach, and all things tropical was well-known among her friends and family. Summer and hot weather brought her joy, and she often referred to the beach as her happy place. Lauren's love for musicals and theater showcased her multi-talented and creative nature.
Lauren was a beautiful and independent spirit, known for her strong will and adventurous attitude. Her sweet and incredible personality made her a joy to be around, and her fun-loving and quirky demeanor brought smiles to everyone she encountered. She was a bright shining star, illuminating the lives of those around her with her kindness and generosity.

Lauren was diagnosed with a very rare, advanced and aggressive turbo cancer on March 22, 2024 after only having mild abdominal symptoms for a few weeks. We are devastated that she lost her battle after such a short time, but find comfort that she is no longer in pain, and that she's in peace in Heaven. Lauren is survived by her loving parents, Christine and Doug Weiler, and her younger brother, Douglas, along with 22 aunts and uncles, 24 cousins and their spouses, 39 second cousins and her cat Lancelot.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
