Kevin John O’Connell, 78, of Nesconset, NY, died January 18th, 2024 at the Veterans Medical Center in Northport, New York.
Kevin was born July 9, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York to Patrick O’Connell (Ireland) and Margaret O’Connell nee Danaher (Brooklyn). He grew up in Woodhaven, New York, and attended Franklin K. Lane High School.
He entered the Marine Corps in 1963 and served until 1967. He valiantly defended his country during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. He also served as a reservist in the United States Marine Corps.
He worked as a skilled mechanic for Pan-American Airlines and the New York City Department of Sanitation. He was an avid lover of animals, particularly his horses and many dogs.
He was predeceased in death by his brother, Michael O’Connell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Annette, his daughter, Maureen, and his son, Patrick, as well as five grandchildren, Molly, Joseph, Sean, Keegan, and Brendan.
