Kenneth P. Schultz

d. April 13, 2020

Kenneth P. Schultz, 81, passed away on April 13, 2020 at the Veterans Home in Stonybrook, New York so that that he could be with his wife Frances who was called home 3 days prior. Kenneth was a proud father of 10 children, grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 2.

Growing up in Queens, New York, Kenneth was the oldest of 3 children born to Adam and Helen Schultz.  At the age of 17, with a waiver from his parents, Kenneth joined the Air Force and served his country for four years.  Upon returning to Queens, NY he  joined  the New York City Police Department.  Throughout his career in the NYPD, his favorite assignment was when he was part of the NYPD Highway Patrol Motorcycle Division.  Throughout this assignment Kenneth took part in presidential motorcades and escorted foreign diplomats.

It was fate, back in 1961, when he and a group of officers stood in line at a Red Cross blood drive.  The officer behind Kenneth asked to cut the line, thus redirecting Kenneth to the nurse who became his future wife.  This April 20th, Kenneth and Frances would have been celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary.

During his life, Kenneth had a private airplane license, loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed going to the indoor shooting range.  He loved to take his family camping when the children were young.  Later, when the children were grown, he was often out on excursions with his wife Frances.  Their ventures often included charter boat fishing trips, visiting casinos, and day trips to Montauk.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Anthony (wife Denise), Andrea Rasso (husband Bradley), John (wife Jana), Michael, Joseph (wife Colleen), Maryann Johnson (husband Jason), Christina (Jason Donnell) and Peter (Brenda); his grandchildren, Melanie, Anthony, Kathleen, Michael, Tyler, Austin, Hudson; his great-grandchildren, Emma and Zayne; and sister Lynda.

He was predeceased by his wife Frances; sons, Kenneth and Adam; brother Adam; and parents, Adam and Helen.
