Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Micheli (née Murphy), age 79, passed away on August 31, 2022 after a long, battle with cancer and a recent, debilitating stroke.
She was born on January 4, 1943 to William and Katherine (née Byrne) Murphy in Manhattan, New York.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Micheli, her children, John W. Micheli and wife, Sharyn, Kathy Thieke and husband, Jeff and Tommy Micheli and his wife, Tracy; her seven grandchildren, Kristen Micheli, Thomas Thieke, James Micheli, T.J. Micheli, Erin Slawsky, John Thieke and Ryan Micheli.
Kathy is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Anne Wynne.
Kathy met her loving husband in 1957. High school sweethearts, John’s best friend, Walter, introduced them on a rainy day in Parkchester, New York. It was love at first sight. Their first date was in a movie theater where they shared their first kiss. They married at St. Raymond’s church in the Bronx, November 10, 1962.
She worked in the medical field most of her life. She retired from Suffolk Plastic Surgeons in 2005. She spent the majority of her time as a loving wife and devoted mother, raising her three beautiful children.
She loved spending time with her mahjong friends, traveling with her close-knit friends in their senior club and volunteering at her church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Everyone who met Kathy loved her. Her smile lit up every room she entered. She was an incredibly loving caring and warm person. Selfless, patient, passionate and full of love, her smile could light up any room. She was a fighter and fought to the end to be with the family she loved so very much. She will be missed especially by her seven grandchildren with whom she spent countless hours and who were her pride and joy.
