Katherine M. Serra

Katherine Marie Serra, age 85, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 29, 2022, after a long, wonderful life filled with friendships and a loving family.

She was the belove wife of Gaetano (Tommy) Serra, for 64 years. They were high school sweethearts and knew each other from the cradle.

Katherine was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late George and Mary Zuccaro. She graduated from Prospect Heights High School in 1954. After getting married in 1958, Katherine and Gaetano raised their sons in Shirley.

She is survived by four loving children Louis Serra and his wife Carol, George Serra, Thomas Serra and his wife Karen, and Richard Serra and his wife Cindy. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Kristina Scarpati and her husband Robert, Nicholas Serra, Austin Serra, Dylan Serra, Trevor Serra, and Ashley Serra and one great grand-daughter Emma Rose Scarpati. She is survived by her brother Martin Zuccaro, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Wednesday, February 2 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in Moloney-Sinnicksons Moriches Funeral Home, 203 Main Street, Center Moriches, N.Y. 11934. Funeral mass will be held at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church Thursday, February 3 at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Calverton National Cemetery.
