Gave the rollercoaster of life a fierce ride. Karen succumbed to her battle with cancer on February 23, 2022. Born in Wading River, NY on June 24, 1960. Karen’s mischievous personality and kind heart brought many happy memories to her family and friends. Upon her graduation from Rocky Point High School, Karen ventured to Salisbury North Carolina where she attended Catawba College and played field hockey and softball. She decided to stay for a spell. Her next endeavor brought her back to New York where she established a career as a Riverhead police officer. She served her community proudly for 23 years. Karen enjoyed her retirement, raising her son Joseph, and shared many good times with neighbors, nephews, family and friends. Karen enjoyed traveling with Joseph and spent many happy times in Florida, Vermont, and cruising the world. Karen created a circle of friends the size of the ocean and rode each wave determined and steadfast. Karen will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Survived by her son Joseph Ryan, sister Kathryn Scott, nephews David and Carlos Scott, close friends Larraine and Dave Chrystal and too many friends to name.
