April 1938 – December 2021

Known as pina by her loved ones.
During times of grief and sadness; it’s easy to look back and regret the things that weren’t done; regret what was never said but always implied.
During grief, it’s hard to look back at moments that bring warmth to your heart, about a loved one who was recently lost , realizing those moments are only memories now. However, I ask you all to take this moment to go down the hard path and remember all the things that make your heart warm and the memories you’ve shared with pina. I would like to take this moment to share a few of mine. Pina was my grandmother and In so many ways I realize just how lucky I was to live with my grandmother. I shared moments with her every single day; as did my sister. Pina was surrounded by her loved ones almost every single day. On weekends her home was filled with all 3 of her grandchildren, and both of her sons. Pinas life was filled with family, pina never knew loneliness. Every grandchild, son, and daughter in law’s birthday was spent in her home with her sitting head of the table, every meal and every holiday. Pina was the mecca to our family, wherever she was, we went. Shes truly the reason this family got together every weekend. With every weekend, there was warmth, there was laughter, there was joy, and there was pina right in the center of it. The reason we got together, the reason for the laughter and happiness was all possible because she always brought us together for those weekend dinners, followed by her favorite coffee and cake. Somehow each weekend became a celebration.
What I’m trying to say is even though her passing breaks all of our hearts, I can confidently say she lived her life surrounded by loved ones, and our family will forever be different without our Mecca, without our Pina.
