Josephine Califano

JOSEPHINE (OLIVERI) CALIFANO

August 1, 1939 – August 24, 2019

Josephine (Jo, Jay) was born to Antonio Oliveri and Maria (Mary) Timpone and raised in Brooklyn NY. First living on Lormer St then Montrose Ave. Later on as an adult, her family moved to Staten Island.

She met Joseph (John Joseph) Califano and married in 1964

They lived in Astoria for a short time before moving to Maspeth and then to Central Islip.

Josephine worked for NBC as a young woman. She also worked at Danon yogurt, Perfum Stern and Estee Lauder where she retired from in the early 2000’s.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe and grandson Dominic.
She is survived by her children Pasquale,(Deirdre), Michelle, RaeMarie (Jason) and Anthony (Monica), her sisters, Vita Bono and Marie Zielenski, her grandchildren Alexandra, Nicholas, Carly, Gabriella, Justin, Michaela, Damon, Samantha, Trent and Catherine along with her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation or Kidney Foundation.
