Joseph Scotti passed away on April 11, 2025, in Stony Brook, NY, at the age of 96. He lived a full life and touched the lives of so many. Joe was born in New York City to Santina Maietta Scotti and Peter Scotti. He spent much of his early childhood in Italy before returning to New York, where he met his sweetheart Lora Borton Scotti. They had three children and raised a happy family in Brentwood, Long Island, sharing 48 years of marriage.
Joe was a professional baker, working at Entenmann’s in Brentwood for 30 years, where his hard work set an example for his family. He was a quiet man, always kind and considerate. He was passionate about animals and established his own kennel called Christev Collies, where for over 15 years he and Lora bred and showed collies, including an AKC champion. He loved to garden, growing flowers and vegetables, and skillfully handled any sort of home repairs. In his later years, he became a skillful ballroom dancer often spotted on the dance floor at Saint James and Smithtown senior centers and at family celebrations. Like his favorite singer Tony Bennett, he had an artist’s eye with a natural ability to sketch.
Following Lora’s passing in 2002, Joe found love again with Doris G. Noll, who he married in 2004. They lived very happily, enjoying travel and ballroom dancing, until her passing in 2010. Joe then met and became the steadfast companion of Patricia Brooks, enjoying love, dancing, and time together, helping each other through the pandemic quarantine, and sharing a blessed life for many years.
Joe is survived by his son Steven, daughters-in-law Patricia Hurley Scotti and Linnie Hale Scotti, son-in-law John Lahm, grandchildren Mark Scotti, Paul Scotti, Jason Maass, Johnny Lahm, Kayla Hale, and Cameron Hale, and great-grandchildren Abigail, Alivia, Lillia, Aubrey, Scarlett, Nasir, Kardan, Ethan, and Caleb. Joe was preceded in death by his sister Philomena Shiels, his brother Vincent Scotti, his son Christopher Scotti, his daughter Tina Lahm, and his grandson Neilsen Maass.
