Joseph Patrick Maggiore

Joseph Patrick Maggiore was given the gift of life on June 29, 1931 by our Lord and Mary and Patrick Maggiore in Brooklyn, NY. He returned to our Lord and his all those who have gone before him on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the age of 88. “Joe” was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all.
Joe graduated from Lynbrook High School in 1950 and soon thereafter proudly served in the United State Army. On October 7, 1956 Joe married the first love of his life, Josephine. It would be 12 years before the birth of their only son, James. After the passing of Josephine in 2001 Joe married Rosemarie with whom he shared 18 wonderful years of marriage.
After Joe’s honorable discharge from the Army Joe went on to enjoy a career of more than 40 years for the Long Island Lighting Company.
Joe’s passion was undoubtedly his family. Joe and Josephine were affectionately known by their many nieces and grand nieces, nephews and grandnephews as “Ant and Unk”. For many years Ant and Unk’s beach house would be brimming with family all clamoring for Unk’s breakfast eggs cooked any style as long as they were scrambled.
No matter what the distance, Joe would travel to see his grandchildren Casey, Josie and Matthew play softball and baseball. He was proudest when they would step to plate and he would exclaim for all to hear, “That’s my granddaughter (or grandson)”.
Joe took great satisfaction in his ability to fix anything. Whether it was a car, bike, upholstery, fishing gear, a hotwater heater, or a shoe, Joe would draft a detailed plan (always in pencil and on small note pad paper). and set himself to task.
Joe spent many years raising funds and volunteering for the Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation, a responsibility he proudly shared with Josephine and several in-laws for many years.
Services: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, services must be private. Arrangements are made by Moloney’s Funeral Home, Bohemia. A celebration of life will be planned at an appropriate time.
