Joseph G. Flesch of Astoria, N.Y., a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle, passed away Wednesday January 11, 2023, in the presence of his beloved wife, family members and friends. He was 81 years old and his cause of death was (PSP) Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Joe was born on March 14, 1941 in New York, to Joseph and Catherine Flesch. He grew up in Astoria Queens along with his three brothers.
While working in the local King Kullen he met the love of his life, Nancy. His persistence led to a classic love story starting with their marriage in 1965. Joe and Nancy went on to have four children.
His children and their partners include Joseph P. Flesch (Linda), Donna Lupo, Jeannine Chesterton (George) and Denise Rowley (Paul). His siblings include James Flesch (Mary), John Flesch (deceased), (Carol), Matthew Flesch (Jean), and his grandchildren Laren Amster and Joseph C. Flesch.
Joe retired from a dedicated career as a Teamster in 2003. His love of driving and travel was always his passion and he achieved his bucket list to travel to all 50 United States and all 7 Continents. His favorite destination was to spend Winters in Zihuatanejo, Mexico where he made lifelong friends and memories.
During his long battle with PSP, Joe was encouraged to keep going by his incredible caregiver, Agnes. They developed a special bond for which the entire family will be forever grateful.
Everyone who knew Joe loved him. We will always remember his smile, laugh, sense of humor, love of life, his love for his Wife, ice cream, wine, the New York Rangers, the New York Giants and Rummikub. (And even when he cheated, he was forgiven).
