John E. Voniak

79 years

DOB 3/7/1942 Queens, NY

Returned to Jesus and his wife of 42 years Katherine (Kathy) 11/25/21 Sayville, NY.

John’s journey began in West Hempstead, NY where he grew up with his parents and his brother Ron.  John attended Chaminade HS and after graduation, he headed to Colorado Springs and joined the Air Force where he met his wife Kathy and they married August 1963.  Together, along with their first born Wendy, they headed back to Lynbrook, NY where they grew their family with the addition of John, and Stacy.  John worked for TWA and then Pan American Airlines for 25 years as a crew chief planner as well as several odd and end jobs to make ends meet.  He never stopped! He was a bartender at the Barons III for numerous years and although it was a lot of work, he enjoyed it.   In 1969 they purchased a home in Brentwood, NY where they lived with their 3 children until 1985 at which time they sold their home to follow a dream of opening their own music box store.  Due to the financial hard ship in the 80’s the music box store did not survive but John became resourceful and started JKV cleaning services and loved what he did. After hiring a crew to work for him at JKV he planted himself at the Breckenridge Golf Course and soon became pro shop manager.  It is there he formed forever friendships and loved what he did.  He even had his picture taken with Arnold Palmer “Arnie” that he cherished.

John and Kathy lived life to the fullest and as a team.  Kathy passed away 16 years ago 11/28/05.  John’s heart was broken and he suffered a major heart attack after her death. In 2010, his daughters convinced him to move back to Sayville, NY where he resided with his daughter Wendy and her family with Stacy and her family only 10 minutes away.  John lived his life but a life without Kathy was not the same.  On Thanksgiving morning we believe that God reunited John and Kathy as it was her favorite holiday and he wanted them to celebrate together and John’s heart just stopped beating.

John was predeceased by his Father John J. Voniak, Mother Anne Voniak (nee Holochuck) as well as his wife Katherine A. Voniak (nee Walters).  John is survived by His daughter Wendy Pittari (nee Voniak), her husband Matthew Pittari, Daughter Samantha Chuisano (nee Pittari), her husband Christopher Chuisano and their son Alexander Pittari.  In addition, his son John Voniak and his wife Glenda Pecor and youngest daughter Stacy Timm (nee Voniak), her husband Robert Timm, their daughter Kaylee Timm and their son Evan Timm.  John is also survived by his brother Ronald P Voniak and his wife Jeannie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives he touched in his 79 years on this earth.  There are no words only solace that he is whole, with Jesus and our Mom.

John did not want any type of service just to be cremated and his ashes spread in Colorado with mom.  We will abide.  We are asking those that would like to share a story on this site or reach out to Stacy or myself with your story.
