Our Dad, was the most caring & considerate man on earth. When he was in the navy, he witnessed a boat dump oil into the ocean, and he blinked away tears when he saw a whale jump out of the water with bubbling skin & crying out for help.
He stopped traffic to let a duck and her chicks cross the street. He also stopped traffic when he had a clean shave and was dressed for the PBA.
Women came up to him to tell him how attractive he was, and he only had eyes for our mother.
He was a cops cop. He would do anything to help a fellow officer and go to the end of the earth for his family. Someone was messing with a Loud, in a bar in Queens, and the naive aggressor earned the name “birdcage”, as he needed something similar to keep his head together, after Dad got home from the navy. He was one of the best boxers on the ship. Lean, smart and quiet.
He told us as little kids, to leave “pick up any garbage you’ve left behind. We want to leave everything how we found it. Or better. Be like the Indians.
May he rest in peace with our mother.
“There isn’t anything that can’t be solved over a good cup of coffee.” – John Loud
