John LaMonica

April 6, 1937 – February 27, 2025

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing, on February 27, 2025, of John LaMonica – son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all.

Born in Queens, NY on April 6, 1937 to Frank and Cecelia LaMonica, John spent his childhood in Corona, NY. After graduating from Newtown High School, John obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business and engineering from SUNY Farmingdale. John met his wife Anne in high school where they fell in love, later got married and had four children.

John’s love for family was first and foremost, he was always there for his wife and four children, he loved to take them skiing, bike riding and for hikes. John and Anne’s kitchen was the heart of cherished family traditions, filled with the aroma of simmering Sunday dinners and the sweet scent of baking Italian Christmas cookies each year, testaments to his enduring love for family and heritage. As John’s children grew, he encouraged them all to follow their dreams and endeavors. John was a devout Catholic, and a parishioner of St. Thomas More Church in Hauppauge where he found satisfaction in attending Sunday mass.

John put his heart and soul into his work, and everything in life, with his can-do attitude and problem-solving ability. John started his career at Ford Instruments in Long Island City, then worked at EDO Corporation and finally spent more than 35 years at Hazeltine and BAE/Marconi as a quality control engineer for military aircraft equipment. John’s career took him and his family to Munich, Germany for five years starting in 1979 where he and Anne met new colleagues and friends whom they still keep in touch with today. John continued to actively work as a consultant with Verify Corporation, traveling throughout the Northeast to inspect various military aircraft parts.

John will be immensely missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Anne, whom he adored; his children Helena, (Mark), Lorraine (Bob), Carolyn (Joe) and John (Cherise); Sister Maryanne; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Julian, Matthew, Angelina, Nicholas, John, Analisa and Luciana; five great grandchildren, Ryder, Dylan, Zoey, Hanalei and Kealia; and many other dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Cecelia.

May it be known to all that John was a man of the utmost integrity and reliability. Whether family, a co-worker, or a stranger on the street, he would lend a helping hand. There was nothing John could not accomplish, and nothing he could not fix. John was truly a self-made man, and the best husband and father ever. John’s faith was unwavering, and we know he is with the Lord, for the Lord said, “I will raise you up on the last day.” He will be profoundly missed here on earth, and will live on in our hearts eternally.

In celebration of John’s life, calling hours will held Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Moloney’s Hauppauge Funeral Home, 840 Wheeler Rd, Hauppauge, NY 11788.
