As you all know, Jack Ryan was an extraordinary man, beloved husband, and a devoted father and grandfather. From growing up in Astoria with Jack, Ellen, and Buddy to enlisting in the Army at 18 serving as a Tech Sergeant in World War 2 for three years to then becoming the best husband and father three girls would ever know.
>
> His loving ways set the path for the life his family continues to lead today. Jack’s love and affection for his beloved Joan and three girls was beyond words. He expressed his love in many ways, but one of the most special were the sweet love notes he left on the table every morning before going to work. Although he shined as a father and husband, he was also a wonderful provider and a great salesman— being Irish helped!
>
> In his later years, he felt so blessed to have 3 sweet grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was always eager to listen and hear about their lives all while making them laugh and smile along the way. If he wasn’t bragging about his grandkids, you could find him on the golf course, at the library, looking for a bargain at the store, placing a bet at OTB, or enjoying a good lunch out with his Joan. So much of his enjoyment came from chatting, story telling, and sharing a good joke. As a man of faith, he was always lending a helping hand and had an open door to those who needed compassion and kindness shown to them.
>
> Even though a stroke 8 years ago took away his ability to communicate, he remained positive, content, and continued to be an example to all of us to enjoy life each day to its fullest regardless of ones limitations. Although he may have lost his ability to speak, he could still communicate his love, not through words, but through his 3 kisses meaning “I love you” and through his caring eyes.
>
> We know he so would have loved all of you being here to honor him today and he would tell you to go lend a hand, have a good meal, a strong martini, place a bet, and smoke a nice cigar! Tippy tap to our Jack Ryan!
